Appointment of another member of the “Astray Current” –Esfandiar Rahim Mashai’s circle- to a critical seat in the government has infuriated the Conservatives. Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh, former head of the Supreme Council of Expatriate Iranians –Mashai’s political backyard- was appointed by FM Ali-Akbar Salehi as Deputy Foreign Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs. Impeachment is looming for Salehi with this decision –said by some to be imposed upon him by the “Astray Current”.
