Tehran’s Daily Newspaper Review
The most controversial legal case of the recent decade in Iran (and primary fuel for Iranian tabloids) ended as Shahla Jahed, ‘temporary’ wife of Nasser Mohammadkhani, legendary Iranian soccer player, was hanged in Evin Prison this morning, having been convicted of killing Mohammadkhani’s wife, Laleh Saharkhizan. Iranian politicians and groups condemned the assassination of two Iranian nuclear scientists in Tehran two days ago, while pro-Ahmadinejad dailies quoted British daily The Independent’s piece which assigned responsibility for the assassinations to Israel, the US, and Britain’s intelligence services.
