Tehran’s Daily Newspaper Review
Consider the significance of these headlines: while most newspapers prefer to choose a positive headline to report the meeting between Ayatollah Khamenei and members of the once-powerful clerical institute, Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, the government’s mouthpiece, Iran, publishes today’s edition with a large font headline a quote from the leader: A part of cultural defects due to [failure of] the cleric institution and seminary, just two days after the Supreme Leader warns about the return of "Islam Minus Clerics" idea. Could this lend further support to claims that Ahmadinejad and his theoreticians are—as one time influential reformist columnist Mohammad Ghouchani had said—secularists-in-disguise?
