Why Did Ahmadinejad Go to Switzerland?
Insulting the Iranian president is an offense against the Iranian nation.
Iranian president’s visit to Geneva and his speech in UN conference on racism has had great repercussions in global media. Three days after the speech Ahmadinejad’s remarks and the events that took place while he was talking are still discussed in the media.
Before commenting on Ahmadinejad’s visit to Geneva I have to stress that his stance on the formation of Zionist regime after the Second World War, its apartheid policies Palestinians and incursions into neighboring territories are all rooted in the racist essence of this country. Iranian president’s statements have been frequently highlighted by late Ayatollah Khomeini and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. All the Muslim world know that Israel was created with hidden and manifest support of world powers and it is continuing its crimes with their consent. It is well known that Iran’s stance against this regime has been the same within the past 30 years, frequently emphasized by Iranian officials.
The events which took place during Mr. Ahmadinejad’s speech were clearly prefabricated. Attack on Ahmadinejad and Europeans’ walkout aimed to create an anti-Iranian atmosphere. Israeli officials’ statements before the conference and protest against the Swiss government for meeting Ahmadinejad all showed Zionists’ relentless efforts to turn the tide against Iran.
The insults made against the Iranian president is considered as an insult against the Iranian nation and hence condemned. Political leaders are the representatives of their countries and insulting them equates insulting their nation.
But about Ahmadinejad’s attendance in the Geneva conference some questions come to mind:
- While the conference was not a high-level gathering (though invitations were sent to countries’ leaders) how can Mr. Ahmadinejad’s visit be explained? Why did we attend the conference when we didn’t have any meetings on the sidelines?
- Were experts consulted for attending the conference or the decision merely had political reasons?
- While the final document of the conference is not a high-profile document, why did we participate at a senior official level?
- What was our goal for attending the conference at high political level? Is making a speech a good explanation? Couldn’t this be done by our foreign minister?
- How did Zionists enter the conference hall? Hadn’t the foreign ministry predicted this move?
- How is the foreign ministry going to respond to offensive stance of Israel’s supporters such as Ban Ki Mon and their condemnation of president’s speech?
Giving a clear answer to the public opinion is necessary. The tradition followed by governments and presidents after the revolution was following protocols which accorded with the dignity of our great nation and were based on the three principles set by the Supreme Leader: dignity, wisdom and expedience. How did our president act against diplomatic protocols and let such an insult against the Iranian nation?
