President of Finland Visits Iran
Sauli Vainamo Niinisto will be in Tehran for a three-day visit.
Finnish President Sauli Vainamo Niinisto arrived in Tehran on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Niinisto, who has been elected to presidential office since 2012, has met Iranian senior officials, including the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani, Expediency Council Head Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Speaker of the Parliament Ali Larijani, and Foreign Minister Javad Zarif. He will be staying in Iran for three days. The last visit by a Finnish president to Tehran took place in the 1970s according to Helsinki’s embassy in Tehran.
