Human Rights: From Comedy to Tragedy

The martyrdom of a freedom-seeking cleric who cried out for liberty of expression has become a pretext for us to look more deeply at the bitterly difficult days the world is experiencing and a pretext to evaluate the nature of and the reasons behind such painful incidents. So that we can see what is happening to us that all human virtues supported by long historic endeavors of nations, efforts made by freedom-seekers and the sufferings of great thinkers and preachers of culture and civilization left as their legacy are all collapsing.

In what kind of scene or context should one really look for the root of all agonies of the modern man? Should we not entitle those who have raised the flag of resistance against imperialism and dictatorship the right to distrust the pretentious western camp?  Should we not entitle all those who lead people to awareness and awakening for God and humanity’s sake and criticize the mirage of the hypocritical world, full of wickedness, the right to distrust the world superpower and turn to the example of the anti-dictatorial, anti-imperialist awakening movement to resolve the problems of mankind? Is there any hope in pretentious supporters of freedom and democracy? Is there any hope in human rights institutions? Is there any hope in submissive thinkers? Don’t the youth have the right to say human rights and freedom of speech are mere mirages? They are imprisoning and torturing people in groups. Execution, terrorism and violence against nations have become widespread. Instead of standing by nations, the powerful players in the world are hideously backing supporters of homicide and dreadful dictatorial systems. What symbolizes human civilization --freedom and democracy-- is apparently good only for a single race and a single nation. It seems that every other nation should breathe on bail so that imperial leader and dictators of the modern world can lift their wine glasses in cheering salutes to each other. Shame and curse on all those who are mocking humankind and prefer slaughter and repression of the people whose sole concern is that of liberty and democracy and cannot adapt with western culture and its unrestrained world. What do lords of power in Europe and the United States and international institutions expect? Can nations help hating them and thinking about revenge? Can nations forget powerful politicians who have turned a blind eye, shut their conscience down, and never said anything in protest?

The medieval execution of an innocent sheikh who had nothing but words and letters and was only concerned about his nation’s freedom sees nothing but negligence and lack of commitment on the part of world powers, states, and international organizations. Sheikh Mohammad Baqir Al-Nimr reached his ideal of martyrdom but is it acceptable for human rights advocates to ignore the savage behavior of the inhumane al-Saud regime? Why did those NGOs, worried about violence against a single man, issue no statement calling for his freedom or condemning his martyrdom?

The odd thing is that all violence promised to the world today originates from Takfiris and Wahhabis openly supported by the al-Saud regime while the bitterly ridiculous fact is that world powers are well aware of where all these corruptions come from. Instead of preventing governmental brutality, they are punishing nations. September 11 was masterminded in the Takfiri-Wahhabi camp and tens of Saudis, Emiratis, and Jordanians were involved in the crime against humanity. Explosions in Madrid, London, Paris, war in Syria, occupation of Bahrain, war against the civilized Yemeni nation, suicide explosions in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the region have all been planned in the Salafi Zionist-Wahhabi camp, drawing the world into insecurity and violence. There is no doubt in the will of freedom-seeking nations anymore. Such nations consider the path of salvation separated from any attachment to and dependence on global imperialism. They consider deceitful slogans a trap on their way to dignity and freedom. They have learned from religious scholars that martyrdom is a valuable concept in the dawn of freedom, the dependence of nations and a promise made by God because is the custodian and protector of his own faith. Islam has a 1400-year history in the whole region and is one of the two pillars of the cultural identity of the region’s nations and independence as a main element of freedom. Martyrdom and endeavors of the region’s Muslim people will turn the desert of Arab barbarianism into a plain and will uproot the dictatorship of Wahhabism. The independence of nations, democracy, and the end of monarchies in the region cannot be realized unless all-round sovereignty of the nations is fully established. The irony for man today is to breathe among infidels who have never experienced the concept and value of constitution, freedom, and democracy. While the only way to realize security in the region is through freedom, the barbaric Arabs have not yet tasted the sweetness of freedom and the people’s right to sovereignty and recognized its authenticity. You cannot ask one side for security and stability while the other has the right to power, repression, and violence. This is doubtlessly a critique of the defined normal identity of man with barbaric classifications. Can we hope for the emergence of measures to establish essential principles of democracy in the region? The unfair execution of the prominent imprisoned cleric is no victory. The repression of Shiites in Nigeria and the slaughtering of a prominent cleric’s wife and children is no victory. The oppression and war in Yemen and Bahrain is no victory. Victory is for those who have welcomed martyrdom with open arms, watering a garden of virtuous men with every drop of their blood. We will surely see sinister and wicked Saudi figures be ousted and tried by their own people just like Saddam, Gaddafi, and Hitler. This is the promise of the Quran and history and it will not take long to come.
