Opposition Leader Reveals Al-Khalifa Regime’s Plot to Change Bahrain’s Demographic Map
(FNA)- Leader of Bahrain's Amal Islamic Society disclosed the al-Khalifa regime's plot to change the country's demographic structure by giving citizenship to foreigners and supporting certain tribes against the Shiites.
"Today, Bahrain's nation, history, civilization and future are posed to enemy attacks, and giving citizenship to the aliens in Bahrain is aimed at changing the country's demographic structure and strengthening certain tribes and supporters of al-Khalifa regime against the Shiite population," Seyed Ja'far Alawi told FNA on Wednesday.
He compared the situation in Bahrain with conditions in the Palestinian territories, and said 60 years ago, the Zionist regime gave citizenship to the foreigners to increase the Jewish population in Palestine and now al-Khalifa is doing the same to target the Shiites who are now in majority in Bahrain.
"The Zionist and Bahraini regimes are both supported politically by the US and no real pressure is exerted on the two regimes despite their crimes and violation of human rights and this has created a political umbrella for the two criminal regimes to continue their oppression and tyranny against the Palestinian and Bahraini nations," Alawi said.
Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the al-Khalifa dynasty.
Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar - were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.
So far, hundreds of protesters have been killed, hundreds more have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured and arrested.
