Iran-Turkey Strong Relations Unaffected by False News Reports
(FNA)- A senior Iranian diplomat underlined that Tehran-Ankara relations will never be influenced by false reports of the western and Israeli media.
The statements by the Iranian diplomat came after Turkish daily Today's Zaman claimed that Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli has visited the Iraqi part of the Kandil Mountains where the anti-Turkey Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) headquarters is located.
"The strong relations between Iran and Turkey will not be affected by false news and reports," the Iranian diplomat said on Friday.
He pointed to Rahmani Fazli's visit to Iran's Northwestern Azarbaijan province last week, and said, "The Iranian interior minister has visited the part of the Kandil Mountain which is located in Iran's West Azarbaijan province."
The diplomat reiterated that the photos that Rahmani Fazli shared on his Instagram account have been taken in Iran's West Azarbaijan province.
He underlined that the biased reports on Iran-Turkey ties are prepared by the Tel Aviv regime to create a tense atmosphere in the region.
"Iran has always cooperated with Turkey in campaign against terrorism," the diplomat added.
Both Iran and Turkey are influential countries in the region and their closer cooperation would be crucial to end regional crises.
Iran and Turkey have been pursuing increasing widening of their ties in various fields in the last two decades. Iran is a main energy supplier to Turkey and Ankara has made huge investments in Iran.
Iran is a main destination of Turkish goods and Turkey is among the top destinations of Iranian tourists and traders.
The two states plan to multiply their trade transactions in the next few years.
In April, Tehran and Ankara signed eight cooperation agreements and one joint statement to boost bilateral relations in different areas.
The nine cooperation documents were signed by the two countries' ministers and senior officials in a ceremony attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and President Erdogan in Tehran on April 7.
The Iranian and Turkish presidents underlined the need for the further expansion of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
