Iranian Parliament Wants Final N. Deal to Go to UN Security Council

(FNA)- The Iranian legislature in a statement on Monday stressed that a final nuclear deal with the six world powers should include removal of all sanctions and be endorsed by the UN Security Council.

A sum of 260 MPs who have put their signatures down the statement reiterated that all agreements should be struck and put into action in a single-step deal and all embargos should be removed at once.

"Wrapping up Iran's nuclear dossier at the UN Security Council and bringing it back to a normal status is prerequisite for a comprehensive nuclear agreement," part of the statement read.

Meantime, Chairman of the Parliament's Nuclear Committee Ebrahim Karkhaneyee warned that in case the powers violate their commitments after endorsing a final deal with Iran, then Tehran would stop respecting the agreement and resume its ceased operations.

In their statement, the Iranian MPs have stressed the need for the removal of all sanctions, restoration of the nuclear rights of the Iranian nation and objective assurances for the US compliance with any final agreement.

In early February, more than 220 Iranian lawmakers had prepared and signed the bill of a law which called on the government to speed up the country's nuclear activities in case the US imposes any further sanctions on Tehran.

"The bill requires the government to annul the Geneva Interim agreement (inked by Iran and the world powers in November 2013) and resume all its nuclear activities in case of intensified US sanctions," Karkhaneyee told FNA at the time.

"Based on the bill, removal of all sanctions at once is the Islamic Republic of Iran's precondition for implementation of any (possible) comprehensive nuclear deal," he added.
