Iran N-deal to benefit entire region
Lebanon's parliament speaker has expressed hope that the talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries over Tehran’s nuclear program would lead to a final nuclear deal, stressing that the agreement will serve the interests of the entire Middle East region.
Undoubtedly the result of these negotiations will have a significant effect on the entire region, Nabih Berri said in a Sunday meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fat’hali in the Lebanese capital Beirut, where the two officials discussed bilateral ties as well as the latest developments in the region.
Berri said that regional countries, including Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, will benefit from a nuclear accord between Tehran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, Russia, China, France, US and Britain, plus Germany.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Lebanese parliament speaker underlined the need for unity and solidarity among regional countries in the fight against terrorist groups.
The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control parts of Syria and Iraq. They have carried out heinous crimes including mass executions and beheadings in the two countries. Lebanon is also suffering from the spillover of militancy from Syria.
The Iranian envoy, for his part, elaborated on the Islamic Republic’s ongoing nuclear talks with six world powers and the recent developments in the region.
Representatives from Iran and the P5+1 group wrapped up their latest talks over Iran's nuclear program in the Omani capital, Muscat, on November 11. They are trying to hammer out a permanent solution to the standoff over the issue as a November 24 deadline draws close.
