Biden words shot Washington in both feet
American Vice President Joe Biden has shot the US in “both feet” by his revelations about Washington’s true intentions behind the so-called war on terror and anti-Russia bans, an analyst writes for Press TV.
In an article published on Press TV website on Monday, Finian Cunningham said Biden’s recent comments have “revealed more about Washington than he perhaps intended,” adding, “He tends to shoot his mouth off before aiming his thoughts.”
On October 3, Biden described Washington’s close allies in the Middle East, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as the “biggest problem” in Syria, saying they had “poured hundreds of millions of dollars” to the militants operating against the Syrian government.
This is while Riyadh and Abu Dhabi are parties to the newly-formed US-led coalition which claims to be fighting against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists wreaking havoc on Syria and Iraq.
“America’s second-in-command has, in his own words, made a damning assessment of the cause behind the rise of terrorism threatening the region. This anti-terror coalition that Washington has dragooned has therefore no credibility. Just ask Biden,” Cunningham wrote.
Cunningham further said Biden’s recent apology to Turkey cannot convince public minds as they consider his “prior candid viewpoint as closer to the truth.”
The analyst also pointed to the US official’s disclosure of Washington’s role in fueling the dispute between Moscow and the Western states over the turmoil in Ukraine and said such a row had been “greatly exacerbated by American bullying.”
“If it weren’t for Washington’s hostile attitude, then the crisis over Ukraine would likely be resolved diplomatically, without the provocative backdrop of a damaging trade war,” Cunningham stated.
Biden has recently said the US had to “embarrass Europe” to impose economic sanctions against Russia.
In recent months, the Western states and Moscow had imposed a series of tit-for-tat bans against each other over the situation in Ukraine. Kiev and its Western allies accuse Russia of having a hand in the Ukraine crisis, but Moscow denies the allegation.
