Qatari FM Arrives in Iran for Official Visit
(FNA)- Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Attiyeh arrived in Tehran Wednesday afternoon and was welcomed by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
The top Qatari diplomat is in the Iranian capital to confer with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on the latest developments on the regional and international scenes and discuss avenues for expanding Tehran-Doha ties in all spheres.
Al-Attiyeh is scheduled to participate in a joint press conference with Zarif as well as his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari who arrived in Tehran last night after a trilateral meeting.
Both Iran and Qatar have recently augmented efforts to further expand ties and cooperation in all the different political, economic, defense, security and cultural fields.
The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation with Tehran.
Also, Iran and the Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.
