Iranian FM Hopes for Further Consolidation of Ties with Russia
(FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov stressed Tehran’s willingness to further strengthen relations with Moscow.
During the meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Zarif described the Iranian and Russian officials’ reciprocal visits as an important step towards the further development of the relations between the two countries, and underlined the necessity for continued consultations on regional and international developments.
He referred to his recent visit to Moscow, and expressed the hope that the relations between Iran and Russia as two neighboring states would further expand.
Zarif hoped for a visit to Tehran by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future, and called the upcoming trip by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani as a crucially important step in the development of bilateral parliamentary ties.
Ivanov arrived in Tehran on Monday to meet with high-ranking Iranian officials on bilateral and regional security ties and cooperation.
During his stay in Tehran, Ivanov is slated to confer on regional and international developments and discuss ways to expand the bilateral ties between Tehran and Moscow in all domains with senior Iranian officials.
Iran and Russia have vast cooperation in different fields, especially in political and economic spheres.
The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
