IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, said on Saturday Islam respects divine religions as universal perception and condemning the Zionist regime has nothing to do with Judaism.

Mehmanparast was reacting to claims raised in connection with Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi’s statement condemning practices of the Zionist regime and linking it to Jewish religion by Tel Aviv.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran respects all divine religions and is distinguished as one of the founders of dialogue among great Abraham religions, including Islam, Christianity and Judaism.”

He said campaign against racism is one of the irrevocable principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy.

“Distorting image of Judaism through political party of Zionism has always been the point of protest by the world freedom lovers and even followers of Judaism themselves. Charging the Islamic Republic of Iran of supporting racism is an outright lie.”

He noted that there is complete difference between commands of divine religions and extremist ideology of racism and Zionism, the anti-human rights ideology and as the First Vice-President has said, “We respect followers of Moses (Peace Be Upon Him), but, we oppose global Zionism.”

He hoped that those claiming to fight racism will break silence against the fully inhumane approach of Zionist regime against the oppressed Palestinian people and violation of rights of Muslims in other parts of the world, taking serious action to thwart the Zionist plots.
