Salehi arrives in Cyprus
IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, heading an eco-political delegation, arrived in Larnaca, Cyprus, on Tuesday.
Upon his arrival, Salehi was warmly welcomed by a number of top Cypriot officials in Larnaca airport.
The Iranian foreign minister's visit to Cyprus is aimed at reviewing avenues to bolster bilateral ties between the two nations.
During his day-long stay, Salehi will meet President Dimitris Christofias and his counterpart.
He is planned to convey President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's message to his Cypriot counterpart, inviting him to attend the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit meeting to be held in Tehran.
As of July, Cyprus is to hold the rotating presidency of the European Union for six months.
Salehi will then proceed to Kazakhstan to participate in the 12th joint economic commission session of the two countries.
In Kazakhstan, Salehi and Kazakh officials will discuss issues of mutual interest.
