Official calls Bahrain’s claims baseless, fabricated
Mehr News Agency - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian has dismissed allegations by Bahrain that it has identified a terror cell with connection to Iran.
Bahrain’s public prosecutor on Sunday alleged the cell planned attacks against high profile sites, such as the Saudi Embassy in Manama and a causeway linking Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, according to the Associated Press.
The claims are “baseless and fabricated,” Abdollahian told the Arabic language al-Alam channel late on Sunday.
Inspired by pro-democracy uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa, the Bahraini people have also been seeking rights. However, the al-Khalifa family has suppressed pro-democracy voices and so far 35 protestors have been killed in the tiny Arab kingdom.
The Bahraini kingdom has claimed that protests are being provoked by Iran.
